East Midlands law firm Nelsons up for brace of personal injury awards

An East Midlands law firm is celebrating after being shortlisted for a brace of awards recognising its expertise in the personal injury sector.

Nelsons, which has offices in Derby, Nottingham and Leicester, has been named as a finalist in two categories at the national Personal Injury Awards.

Associate and solicitor Dianne Collins has been shortlisted for Claimant Lawyer of the Year, while Nelsons’ personal injury team will be hoping to scoop the prize for Claimant Team of the Year at the awards dinner, which takes place in Manchester on November 27.

Now in their 12th year, the awards celebrate the excellence of individuals, teams and organisations specialising in the personal injury sector.

Lisa Preece, who heads the personal injury team at Nelsons, said: “We’re extremely proud to have been shortlisted in these national awards, indicating the quality of our work and placing us firmly among the best in the sector nationwide.

Dianne Collins has been representing victims from the Aston Hall abuse scandal (Nelsons)

“Personal injury is a niche and complex area of law and our work is vital in supporting those who have experienced life-changing injuries.

“Our claimant team has extensive knowledge, particularly when it comes to advising on specialist areas such as abuse claims, brain and spinal injuries and clinical negligence. We’ll have our fingers crossed for a double award win on the night.”

Earlier this year, Dianne won Lawyer of the Year in the Derby & District Law Society Awards 2019 and is hoping to add another accolade to her collection.

She joined Nelsons’ Derby office in 2012 and is a specialist in historical child abuse claims.

Among many other cases, Dianne is currently representing 78 survivors of the Aston Hall abuse scandal.

She said: “Just being shortlisted is a real honour. I look to help my clients by giving them a voice, empowering and enabling them to take back control and move forward with their lives.”
