East Midlands Airport's warning after drunk passengers stopped from boarding flight

East Midlands Airport are warning passengers after two people had "over-indulged" on alcohol prior to their flight and stopped from boarding.

Two passengers were denied from flying on Thursday, June 27 by police after they had too much to drink.

The airport's police are stressing that while people should be able to enjoy themselves, they should travel "nicely and responsibly".

The airport is well into its busy summer season, in which thousands of jet-setters head all over Europe on their holidays.

A tweet by East Midlands Airport Police said: "In quick succession this afternoon (June 27) two passengers had been 'over-indulging' prior to their holiday flight. Clearly not fit to fly and righfully denied boarding. Please enjoy yourselves but do travel nicely and responsibly."

An East Midlands Airport spokesperson said: “Arriving at the airport is, for many people, the start of their holiday. It’s a time to relax and, if passengers so choose, enjoy an alcoholic drink.

"While the vast majority of people do behave themselves, together with the police, we are committed to cracking down on any passenger who might be tempted to have one drink too many.

"Drinking irresponsibly not only ruins it for others but can lead to arrest as well as being banned from flying.”
