East Midlands Airport announces new destination which will fly three times daily

East Midlands Airport has announced a new destination which will run up to three times daily.

As of today Aer Lingus Regional will be flying to Belfast from East Midlands Airport.

Flights start at £34.99 one-way and the journey time is just over an hour.

East Midlands Airport managing director Clare James said she was delighted to welcome a new airline to the airport.

She said: "This is a positive development and is especially welcome in these challenging times for aviation.

"Direct connectivity to Belfast is a boost for this region and the new route provides frequent and easy access to Northern Ireland for people who are visiting for leisure or business.

"It’s also great news for tourism in the East Midlands and we offer a very warm welcome to visitors who want to explore everything this region has to offer.”

The managing director of the company which owns Aer Lingus Regional, Andy Jolly, said he was pleased to "establish a base" at East Midlands Airport.

He said: "Stobart Air has worked hard over the past number of months to protect our airline during challenging times and to position us for the future. The launch of this service is part of that.

“This new Aer Lingus Regional route will facilitate key links and connectivity between Belfast and the East Midlands and ensure we provide choice, value and convenience for our customers.

"We look forward to welcoming our passengers on board this route from today."
