East Market Street incident: 73-year-old man dies after falling from building

A 73-year-old man has died after an incident on Edinburgh's East Market Street earlier this afternoon.

Police have confirmed that they are treating this as a "non suspicious death".

The road was closed after reports of a person falling from a building at around 4.40pm this afternoon.

Officers were advising members of the public to avoid the area as they dealt with the incident. The East Market Street entrance to Edinburgh Waverley railway station was also closed off at the time.

A police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a 73-year-old man has died following an incident on East Market Street, Edinburgh on 14 June. This is being treated as a non-suspicious death."
