East Lothian youths ignore lockdown and travel into village for mass brawl

Emergency services raced to Wallyford in East Lothian on Monday night following reports that six youths had travelled to the village to attack a young man.

A helicopter was spotted over the East Lothian village as cops raced to locate the group who had allegedly arrived in the village on the 113 bus before wreaking havoc.

According to reports, there had been "a group of youths jumping a guy, six or of them bottled him and then chased him towards strawberry corner."

Another local added that he'd seen the group "dumping stuff onto the train tracks at the station."

Police were spotted at Wallyford roundabout, train station and in the centre of the village with 'sniffer dogs' as images of a search helicopter circling above were shared online.

One local commented: "They were shining the lights onto the warehouses and houses near my home. I had to go check as the cat came hurtling through the house when the noise started."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland told Edinburgh Live : “Around 7.50pm on Monday, 22 February, we received a report of a disturbance near to the Wallyford roundabout.

“Officers attended and carried out a search of the area. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
