East Lothian village named one of the 'poshest in Britain' in brand new chart

An East Lothian town has been named as 'one of the poshest villages in Britain' - and it's not the one you would think!

The east coast town of Gullane has been named in a 54-strong list of the poshest towns and villages across the UK, including places such as Devon and Cornwall.

Described as a "pretty village", Gullane's average house price is sitting at a whopping £356,615, and has it's posh appeal boosted by the amount of golf courses on offer.

Gullane also has the benefits of a double village green, a castle, and three golf courses surrounded by large villas.

It also boasts the Myreton Motor Museum, various art galleries and lots of top class restaurants, such as the Bonnie Badger.

One of the best beaches in East Lothian is at Gullane Bents, where the north and west facing Gullane Bay, backed by dunes, sweeps round from Gullane Point to Black Rocks.

At Black Rocks, it is possible to see the ruin of St Patrick's Chapel, which is thought to date back to the early 1500s and was originally roofed in turf before at some time being lost in shifting sand.

Sitting just five miles west of the beautiful North Berwick, and 20 miles from Edinburgh's city centre, Gullane is a perfect coastal holiday hideaway.

The East Lothian town has been named next to some extremely 'posh' places in England, such as Studham in Bedfordshire, who's average house price is a whopping £700,494.

Also on this list is Elie in Fife, with a smaller average house price (£349,951), but five beaches, a tennis club and Michelin-starred restaurants to up its 'posh appeal'.
