A man on a charity moped tour of Britain’s sweariest place names has planned two stops in East Lothian in a bid to raise funds for cancer research.
Paul Taylor will take in Cockenzie and Wallyford on his ‘rude trip,’ covering almost 1,800 miles on a bike with a top speed of just 28 mph.
The 43-year-old will set off from Shitterton in Dorset this week on his ‘moronic moped marathon’ and hopes to go as far north as Twatt in Orkney before trundling back down the length of the UK to finish at Bell End in Worcestershire.
Other destinations on his travels include Titty-Ho, The Knob, Willey and Cockburnspath in the Scottish Borders.
However, it will not be a high-octane thrill ride as his chosen vehicle is a Slovenian-built Tomos XL45 - so named because of its max 45 kph speed.
The challenge is designed to raise money for vital research into the causes and treatment for cancer after tragically losing friend and fellow motoring enthusiast Alexis Leventis at the age of just 55.
He told the BBC: "Everyone starts a long journey like that from Lands End to John O' Groats - I wanted to do something similar, with a bit of twist.
"There's some good ones around there, like Happy Bottom Nature Reserve and Sandy Balls New Forest Holiday Park.
"I wanted to doo something to help beat this awful disease.
"I thought this trip was a suitably ridiculous place to start and, as Alexis was a motorcyclist as well as a car nut, two wheels was not only appropriate but made it more of an adventure."
Funny street names on his itinerary include The Knob in King's Sutton, Northamptonshire, Butthole Lane in Shepshed, Leicestershire, and Titty Ho in Raunds, Northamptonshire.
Two East Lothian destinations are also to be checked off, though there is currently no plan for a quick snap on Cockburn Street before he heads further north to take in the village of Dull in Perth and Kinross.
Paul said he set a deliberately low target for his challenge at just a pound a mile, but has already shattered that amount, raking in £13,000 so far.
