East Lothian residents warned after 'several reports' of a man trying to break into cars

East Lothian residents are being warned to be vigilant after a man was spotted trying to break in to cars.

Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses following several reports of a male suspect who was reportedly seen trying to gain access to parked vehicles in streets in Musselburgh, Tranent and Port Seton.

The various incidents are said to have happened overnight, between Wednesday evening (1 April) and Thursday morning (2 April).

The man is described as around 5’9 to 5'10, of slim build and was dressed in dark clothing and was carrying a rucksack.

Anyone who may have information in relation to these incidents or who may have witnessed further similar incidents are asked to call 101 quoting incident number 0659 01/04/20.

Local officers are urging locals to ensure that vehicles are secured left unattended and no valuables can be seen in the vehicle.
