East Lothian pubs flog litres of beer for cheap after new lockdown restrictions

East Lothian has moved into Level Three of Scotland's lockdown restrictions today and for many bars and restaurants in the council area it has come as a major disappointment.

Hospitality venues are no longer allowed to serve alcohol under the latest measures imposed on East Lothian - except in a takeaway capacity.

As a result many bars and pubs in the area are having to sell their draught beer - bought in for sit-in service - at a fraction of the usual price in order to prevent it going to waste completely.

The Old Clubhouse in Gullane has advertised that it is selling all draught beer, lager and Guinness in 1 litre cartons for just £4 today alongside an off sale wine list after the new restrictions caused the venue to make an urgent pivot to takeaway sales.

Yesterday Tom Kitchin's East Lothian restaurant The Bonnie Badger announced on Facebook that they have had "confirmation of 3 cases of Covid linked to their premises" and will be closed for the foreseeable future.
