East Lothian prowler caught on CCTV while employees were at lunch

Images captured on CCTV show the audacious moment a man walking with a limp attempts to break into an East Lothian garage with a 24-hour security system.

The suspect is understood to have made off with tools but only after he had attempted to gain access to vehicles and buildings whilst employees were out for lunch.

Police Scotland are looking into the attempted break-in and theft after the incident at a site in Whitecraig and Wallyford at around 11:45am on October 12.

The male was sporting a white Scotland zipper with dark coloured trousers and he was spotted on CCTV within the site as he targeted the area in broad daylight.

It is believed that he changed his clothes into a grey top before escaping the scene of the alleged crime.

Sharing the images on social media, one man appealed for information on the suspect, the Daily Record reports.

He said: "Trespassing, theft, trying doors to buildings and vehicles.

"This guy was caught on CCTV today Tue 12 at a site between Wallyford and Whitecraig.

"He has stolen a DeWalt grinder and diamond disk. He was seen trying doors to vehicles and buildings.

"He also changed clothes while there to what looks a grey top. Possibly may have been watching the site as happened when out for lunch site is manned 24/7.

"He walks with a limp/injury. Any info please pass on. Police are aware.

"Likewise if anyone seen a vehicle parked up between the A1 lights at Wallyford and Whitecraig round about between 11 and 12 please pass on."
