East Lothian police to patrol country park after woman scared by 'suspicious' man

Police have said they will be patrolling a local country park for weeks to come after a woman reported a disturbing incident.

Officers in East Lothian issued a statement earlier today, revealing they would be carrying out "reassurance patrols" in John Muir Country Park.

The statement read: "Following reports to police of a suspicious male around the John Muir Country Park area local Community Officers attended this morning and carried out hi-visibility reassurance patrols in the area.

"These patrols will continue in the coming weeks."

It comes after a woman warned others on social media about an incident in the Dunbar country park on Tuesday (23 February).

The woman explained she had become panicked after becoming aware of a man who she believed to be following her when she was walking in the area in the early morning, explaining that she even heard him speaking about her on the phone.
