East Lothian police probe tragic death of teenager in Haddington town centre

Police in East Lothian are currently investigating the death of a teenager in Haddington on Saturday evening, reports the East Lothian Courier.

The 18-year old man is said to have passed away on Saturday evening (22 August) in a property in the centre of the town.

A spokesman for Police Scotland told the Courier: "A report was received raising concerns for a person within a property at Market Street in Haddington shortly before 8pm.

"The 18-year-old man was pronounced dead a short time later.

"His death is currently being treated as unexplained and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) is Scotland’s prosecution service; they receive reports about crimes from the police and other reporting agencies and then decide what action to take, including whether to prosecute someone.

They also look into deaths that need further explanation.
