East Lothian police launch appeal after 83 year-old involved in three car 'serious crash'

Police in East Lothian are today appealing for the public's assistance after a 83 year-old man was involved in a serious collision with three vehicles.

The pensioner had been driving a Vauxhall Corsa west on the A199, North High Street in Musselburgh at 10.35am yesterday (Thursday 27 August) when it collided with three other vehicles.

Emergency services attended and the 83-year-old male driver of the Vauxhall Corsa was taken by ambulance from East Lothian to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Sergeant Jennifer Forbes from Lothian and Scottish Borders Road Policing Unit said:

“The 83-year-old driver sustained significant injuries and enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened.

“I would appeal to anyone who was on the road around 10.30am on Thursday morning, particularly motorists with dashcams, to please get in touch if you have information that could assist our investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Lothian and Scottish Borders Road Policing Unit through 101, quoting incident number 0997 of Thursday 27 August 2020.”
