Relief as missing 88 year old man Charlie Plain is traced safe and well in East Lothian

Police Scotland have said that a missing pensioner called Charlie Plain, who went missing from the Fa'side area of Tranent in East Lothian, has been traced safe and well.

Cops posted a photo of the missing 88 year old man on Facebook at around 7pm on 11 December, saying:

"We are appealing for the public’s help as part of our efforts to trace a vulnerable man reported missing in Tranent.

"There are growing concerns for the 88-year-old, who lives in the Fa'side area of Tranent, near to Ross High Rugby pitches.

"Charlie is described as a white male, approx. 5ft 8, medium build with grey hair, wearing glasses. He is wearing a navy blue rain jacket, dark trousers and light coloured canvas shoes.

"We would appeal to local residents to check their gardens and any outbuildings, and for anyone who may have seen Charlie, or who has any information on his whereabouts, is urged to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 2161 of 11/12/2020."

They later updated the post, saying:

"MISSING MALE TRACED

"Police in East Lothian are delighted to report that missing male Charlie Plain has been traced safe and well within #Tranent. We would like to that the public for all their assistance in the search for Charlie, and for sharing our earlier media release."
