East Lothian police hunt man after pub and hairdresser targeted in early hours

Officers are on the hunt for thieves who targeted a local pub and nearby hairdressers in East Lothian's Prestonpans area.

At around 2am on Wednesday (25 September) the Railway Tavern on the High Street was broken into. While there was damage, nothing had been stolen.

However officers are also investigating a break-in at the nearby 202 Hairdressers, where a tablet and hair products were stolen.

This incident took place around two hours after the pub break-in, shortly after 4am.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and are on the hunt for a man who was seen leaving through the front window of the pub.

DC Mark Asquith, from Dalkeith CID, said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

“The person responsible is described as being a man wearing a two-tone jacket, who was seen leaving through the front window of the pub and some time later walking along the road in the direction of Lidl.”

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0226 of 25 September, or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
