East Lothian mum shaken after thieves break into garden while children sleep

An East Lothian family have been left shaken after thieves broke into their garden in the middle of the night.

Kristie Lees and her partner Russell had been at home asleep at their home in Gullane when the two individuals had snuck onto their property.

Waking up on Tuesday morning (February 22), Kristie, 26, told Edinburgh Live that they had quickly noticed the contents of their shed had been thrown all over the garden.

Going through the mess at around 7am, the family then realised their children's dirt bike had been stolen, a toy that had cost them hundreds of pounds.

A mother to two sons aged six and two, Kristie explained that through a neighbour's CCTV, they had been able to watch the terrifying moment the pair arrived at their home at around 12.40am.

Seen on camera in the garden for around 10 minutes, the thieves then eventually leave and are seen on film as they wheel the dirt bike out onto the lane.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Kristie said: "Me, my partner and two kids were in the house. In the morning, all the stuff was out our shed in the garden.
