An East Lothian mum has shared a heartfelt thanks with ambulance crews and coastguard teams for saving her son after a deadly fall.
Lucas Watson was with his dad and sister at Tynninghame Beach on Christmas Day when he fell from a height onto rocks and fractured his skull.
Lucas, an Edinburgh University medical student, was airlifted to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary before being rushed to the Western General by ambulance for life-saving surgery.
Vicki Watson has now shared a heartfelt thanks with emergency responders, including the Scottish Ambulance Service paramedics Dunbar and North Berwick Coastguard teams and the police.
She said: "Not only did he survive but he has not suffered any brain damage and was back at university early February – it’s just miraculous and remarkable.
"Our son would not have survived without your team’s help. We are so incredibly lucky in this country to have the emergency services we do and the NHS. No words big enough to say how grateful we are.
“Sending you and your team strength and hope over the coming days, weeks and months.”
The family have launched a crowdfunding page to raise money for BASICS Scotland, a charity that works to promote high quality pre-hospital emergency care to health professionals in Scotland.
