East Lothian farm robbed in brazen daylight raid as police launch investigation

An East Lothian farm has been targeted in a terrifying daylight raid after a masked man broke in and stole money from a filing cabinet.

Bosses at Luffness Mains Farm near Longniddry have been left fuming after a brazen thief made off with a sum of money from a wallet inside one of the farm buildings.

The callous thief, who was wearing a black mask covering his face, was spotted by staff, but ran away and is thought to have continued his escape in a grey Volkswagen Passat.

The car is then said to have sped away in a southerly direction towards Mungoswells before workers lost track of the vehicle.

Police have since launched a probe into the incident, but bosses at Luffness Mains have been left shocked by the incident.

Officers say their enquiries remain at an early stage.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.30pm on Friday, September 3, we received a report of a theft from a property on Luffness Mains Farm.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
