East Lothian drug bust: Police Scotland seize £180,000 worth of drugs in Tranent and Haddington

Police Scotland seized £180,000 of cannabis over the weekend during an East Lothian drug bust.

At around 4.30pm on Saturday, officers became suspicious after spotting two men parked in a Ford Fiesta on Bridge Street in Tranent. Following a vehicle and house search, they seized cannabis with an estimated street value of up to £4,920.

On Sunday, around 12pm, officers spotted a silver BMW on the A1, Abbotsview, Haddington. When the vehicle was pulled over they seized up to £175,500 worth of cannabis.

Police Scotland confirmed that two men age 33 and 23 were charged in relation to the first incident on Saturday, and another man, age 20, was charged in relation to the separate incident on Sunday.

The three men were all charged and arrested and will appear in court at a later date.

Chief Inspector Neil Mitchell, area commander for East Lothian, said: "This is a great example of proactive policing and joint work between plain-clothed officers, uniformed officers and detectives. I would like to praise everyone involved for their diligence."
