East Lothian driving instructor called student 'crap' in toe-curling text exchange

An East Lothian driving instructor called his student "crap" in a toe-curling text message exchange.

The baffled learner driver shared photographs of their conversation on social media under the caption "confidence boosts from the driving instructor" – with the tweet having since gone viral.

The woman, who tweets as @robsmac95, sent the tutor called 'Andy' a message reading "passed it" after enjoying success in her theory test.

However the response she got wasn't quite what you'd expect.

The instructor replied firstly saying: "Brilliant well done. What scores did you get." He then sent a follow up message, which may or may not have been meant for the student, reading: "Oh f***. That's my crap one that I meet in Musselburgh just passed her theory wanting to book a practical."

After revealing her theory test scores – which were 46 ad 62 – @robsmac95 replied: "Was that meant for me haha?"

Andy quickly came back: "Checking your sense of humour. Sorry in bad taste."

He then added: "Yes when I read that back that was out of order. My apologies."

The tweet revealing the awkward exchange has since gone viral with more than 35,000 likes at time of writing, and hundreds of people sharing their thoughts.

Greg (he/they) posted: "You can tell the panic was already setting in when he misspelt done."

Dr Katie Hunt added: "Urgh I did that after a bad date. I texted my negative review to the guy instead of my friend and it was clear what I'd done. Props to this guy for styling it out."

CorryfaetheBlock commented: "Stay with him and make it awkward af. It's what he deserves."
