East Lothian cyclist nearly run off the road by van driver in astonishing clip

Hair-raising footage shows the moment an East Lothian cyclist was almost run off the road by a van driver.

The cyclist was involved in a near-miss after the motorist cut across her path as she was riding to work along Edinburgh Road in Musselburgh, earlier this week. The incident, which is said to have happened around 8.25am on Tuesday, has been reported to the police.

The cyclist, who wishes to remain anonymous in this article, shared news of the incident on social media earlier this week.

In a 21-second video, she can be seen cycling in the bike lane as cars and vans pass safely. However as she approaches a junction a blue van veers across her path, and forces the woman to put the brakes on.
