East Lothian couple assaulted in daytime attack after being goaded to fight

Police in East Lothian are appealing for witnesses after a daytime assault with a weapon on a couple.

At around 4.45pm on Thursday 17th June, a 28-year-old male and 25-year-old female were walking between New Street, Musselburgh and Lochend Road North, when they were targeted by a male who was the passenger within a white coloured Ford Transit Connect style works van.

The van drove past the pair several times and the suspect male 'goaded' the victim to fight.

Eventually the suspect exited the vehicle brandishing a weapon and subsequently assaulting the female victim.

The male suspect is described as caucasian with a tan complexion, approximately 20-years-old and around 5ft11 - 6ft tall of athletic build.

He is described as having a buzz cut hairstyle with squared off fringe and at the time of the attack was wearing a white T-Shirt, grey work trousers and work boots - it is thought that he possibly stays or works in New Street, Musselburgh.
