A bar and grill in Musselburgh have launched a new campaign to deliver home-made soup and sandwiches to those who need it during the coronavirus pandemic.
Mercat Bar and Grill have stayed open during the COVID-19 outbreak, adapting their meals to be delivered to East Lothian locals, and now they want to do their bit to give back to the local community.
The grill has launched its ‘Soup(er) Hero’ campaign which aims to get a portion of home-made soup and sandwiches delivered to anyone who may need it.
In a social media post, The Mercat Bar And Grill said: "We’ve launched our ‘Soup(er) Hero’ campaign which aims to get our wholesome, home-made soup and sandwiches to anyone in urgent need, during the Covid-19 crisis.
"We want to play our role in doing whatever we can to help those that are really struggling because of financial hardship, to feed themselves or their family at this immensely difficult time. If you or someone you know is in this position, please get in touch with us.
"And like-wise if you’re an organisation that can collect from us and deliver to your network of people in need – please get in touch.
"Every day we will make available, fresh, homemade soup and sandwiches which can be collected from us, for you to take to whoever is in real need. We will try our utmost to feed as many people as we can."
Locals took to social media to show their support for the campaign, with one local saying: "Absolutely amazing. Well done everyone at the Mercat."
Another person said: "Absolutely outstanding Kindness here . Just amazing."
A third local said: "What a lovely thing to do, some fantastic people in this world."
