East Kilbride yob who brandished machete while making threat to kill jailed

A yob who threatened to kill witnesses while brandishing a machete was jailed for seven months.

Michael Gallagher, 28, of Capelrig Drive in Calderwood, admitted a string of charges.

He admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner on February 20 at his home address in East Kilbride by repeatedly shouting and swearing, threatening to kill police witnesses while brandishing a machete and then a Stanley knife.

He also pled guilty to wiping blood from his foot on to the trouser leg of a police officer on December 26 last year at Glen Urquhart and on route to Cathcart police station and London Road police station.

And he admitted assaulting a different police officer by trying to bite him on the body at Cathcart police station on the same date.

Gallagher also pled guilty to charges of driving while disqualified on February 10 this year on the town’s Kingsway and on January 15 on Owen Avenue, both while on two bail orders.

He was handed down a five-year driving ban for those charges.
