East Kilbride YM have been handed a tough start in the Caledonian Premier League as they host Glasgow Harp before travelling to Wishaw Wycombe Wanders.
But boss Graeme Robertson says they’re just eager to get stuck in, after last season was cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said: “We’re looking forward to it, hopefully this time it’s going to continue without any more stoppages – things are looking a lot better.
“The last time we started we got one game and then it finished, but we’ve got a game on Saturday, it’s our first league game.

“We’re quietly confident that, with the vaccinations and the way things are going, we’ll get a decent league season under our belt.
“Glasgow Harp is a really hard one; they got into the semi-finals of the West Cup, and have made a good few additions to their squad.
“That will be a really tough task, probably one of the hardest games we’ll have all season.
“It’s a good one to start with.”
EKYM won the Angus McConnell Summer League and Robertson was pleased to have it take place in their Centenary year.
He said: “It has been really good and a big ‘thank you’ to all the teams that participated and completed the Summer League and played all their games. They certainly helped the YM celebrate their centenary.
“At the same time gave a lot of people some much-needed friendly action before the season starts.
“I know it was a friendly league but because it was all East Kilbride teams apart from Blantyre RGM, it had a bit of a local rivalry to it, so nobody was taking it half-hearted.
“It was good to win it in the centenary, but it was just good to get those games under our belt.”
The side geared up for the new season with two hard fought victories in friendlies against Central Scottish Premier League opposition.
In midweek, a good first half display with goals from James Cameron and Craig Tocher saw off Wishaw HSFP 2-1.
On Saturday they travelled to play Uddingston Anvil at Bellshill without a number of regulars and, to their credit, overcame an horrendous start that saw them two down early on.
After the shaky start YM found some control and before half time had equalised with Cammy McCulloch netted from the spot before Ross Bryden scored after a determined run while holding off challenges from defenders. In the second half Max Foster edged YM in front with a fine strike from the edge of the area, with Tocher adding a fourth goal late on.
