East Kilbride YM boss Graeme Robertson says getting the new season started next week is a ray of light in a very long tunnel.
Robertson says just being able to kick a ball again after months on the sidelines is a massive boost, but the social aspect is important too.
EKYM’s Greater Glasgow AFL side are finally back in action on Tuesday evening when they kick off in the Spring Cup section seven against Giffnock Soccer Centre Amateurs Red.
The following night their Caledonian AFL side host Dalziel in the William Turner Challenge Cup group stages.
Robertson said: “I’m just delighted to be back, to be honest, and to start getting the guys back playing football.

“We’ve been training, but thankfully we’re training towards something now, which is good. Both of the leagues have put on a cup at the end of the season to finish off this season.
“It should be alright because the guys have been training, so they should be fit enough for it.
“It has been hard going having to do non-contact training, trying to figure out different ways of training without any contact has been difficult, to keep the guys interested.”
Robertson added: “Everybody meeting on a Saturday and getting a game of football is going to be excellent, having something to do on a Saturday will be good for a change!
“We’re playing Dalziel at home first. They’re a decent side, so it should be a hard game in the first game back.”
