East Kilbride town centre decks the malls to help spread festive cheer despite COVID

EK, East Kilbride has decked the malls to help spread a little festive cheer – although Santa and his elves will sadly not be dropping by his grotto this year due to the COVID pandemic.

There is no doubt it has been a difficult year for communities everywhere, including East Kilbride, but as we head into the festive season, EK, East Kilbride is looking to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to the town.

The centre will have decorations and lights throughout the malls, including a glittering Christmas tree in Centre West to welcome visitors.

Although Santa won’t be visiting the centre in person this Christmas, The Entertainer toy shop has a Santa letter service to allow all the good boys and girls to drop off their letters, while the big man himself will be taking some time out from toy making to record some special Christmas messages for the children of East Kilbride.

If you’re feeling those winter blues then keep an eye out for Santa’s helpers who will be cheering up shoppers again this year with some socially distanced acts of kindness in December.

Spot one of the helpers in the mall or in store and you could pick up a fab EK gift card.

And don’t forget, the centre has over 150 big brand stores and independent outlets who will be only too pleased to help you find those perfect pressies for family and friends.

Commenting on the Christmas activities, a spokesman for EK East Kilbride said: “It will be a different type of Christmas for everyone this year but we are determined bring some festive cheer to the centre.

"Although we don’t have a grotto or parade due to the current restrictions, there will be decorations, acts of kindness and special messages from Santa to keep our shoppers in the Christmas spirit."
