After last night's incredible display of gratitude for the NHS, one East Kilbride tot is hoping to spread more positivity with a giant rainbow of hope.
People around the UK took part in an emotional "Clap for Carers" tribute at 8pm last night in a salute to NHS staff and care workers dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
Inspired by the nationwide round of applause, three-year-old Gracie-Mae Boyland and her family created a colourful balloon cluster in the shape of a rainbow.
The youngster hopes her imaginative display, which stretches right across the Lindsayfield home, brings a smile to her community during this worrying and uncertain time.
Mum Emma told the East Kilbride News: "After The outstanding efforts from our local community with last night's applause for the NHS our family was overcome with happy emotions - it really fuelled positive vibes in our household.
"We must all pull together and help each other in any way even if it’s just bringing a smile to someone’s face. Using balloons and our imagination we built Gracie-Mae's rainbow of hope.
"My daughter usually attends Halfmerke Nursery almost 30 hours per week. Due to the current outbreak, like most people, we are home and trying to keep our spirits high each day.
"Not seeing or being able to socialise with her friends has been a massive change and staying at home with mum and dad is a massive transition in her daily routine.
"We know this is not the case for everyone and appreciate the efforts of all key workers keeping our community and country alive and well.
"Everyday since being in lockdown, we have tried to be creative and engage in meaningful play experiences, using our imagination. We hope Gracie-Mae's rainbow of hope inspires others and we welcome the wonderful families in our estate, when out getting their once a day burst of fresh air to stop and smile at our rainbow.
"I think it says it all when Gracie-Mae, who is only three says, 'It’s for all the boys and girls to smile because it’s beautiful'.
"Keep the positivity going and spread hope!"
