East Kilbride thug who ploughed car into RAF hopeful learns fate

A thug who ploughed his car into an RAF hopeful that attacked his brother has avoided jail.

John Lamb, 22, assaulted Eric Clark, 21, outside a McDonalds in Glasgow’s Castlemilk last October.

Clark had earlier floored Lamb’s brother Dylan, 20, in a surprise mallet attack.

Lamb, of East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to Clark.

Lamb was ordered to do 250 hours of unpaid work by Sheriff John McCormick.

He was also put under supervision for 18 months and tagged for six months keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am.

The court heard Lamb watched his brother go into the restaurant before he was attacked by Clark.

CCTV showed Lamb’s Audi moving slowly to get a better view of the premises.

He briefly got out the vehicle and went to the boot before returning to the driver’s seat.

An enraged Clark then left the restaurant and walked directly past Lamb’s car.

Prosecutor Mark Allan said: “Once he was on the roadway, the accused is seen to accelerate a speed towards Clark in a clear and obvious attempt to hit.

“Clark appeared to take notice of the high acceleration and on turning round was able to jump out the way of the vehicle which continued past him.”

Clark was uninjured following the incident and Lamb was later traced by police officers.

Lawyer, Ian McShane, defending, said: “When he got out the car, he could see the assault being perpetrated on his younger brother.

“He lost control of his senses and he accepts that.”

Clark, who will soon join the air force, admitted assaulting Lamb’s brother in April and was ordered to do 140 hours of unpaid work.
