East Kilbride Thistle snap up midfielder for season run in

Midfielder David Bannerman has joined East Kilbride Thistle until the end of the season.

The Jags have snapped up the left-sided player after he was released by Shotts last week, bolstering their squad for the West Region League One run in.

Bannerman made his debut in Saturday’s 2-0 league defeat to Blantyre, coming on as a late substitute at the Showpark.

He has previously played under Jags assistant boss Colin Mitchell at Lanark and Mitchell is delighted to be reunited with the player.

He said: “David is good on the ball, with strong energy levels and he can get up and down the wing well.

“He’s a neat and tidy player and he can finish when he gets through on goal.

“We’ve only got Reece Clarke and Scott Hadden in the wide areas, so David will give us more cover there going into the final games.

“He didn’t get much of a chance at Shotts because they’ve been doing well this season.

"When Steven [McClung, the Jags boss] told me he was available I said: Go and get him.

“David only got on for 15 minutes on Saturday, but we hope he’ll make an impact for us over the next few weeks.”
