East Kilbride Thistle sign striker during 'off' weekend

East Kilbride Thistle boss Alan Paterson used his weekend ‘off’ to sign and run the rule over new striker Andrew Skinner.

Skinner came in from Vale of Clyde and scored in a bounce game between Thistle and their under-20s on Saturday.

Thistle were due to host Petershill, but they were in Scottish Junior Cup fourth round action, beating Lochee United 2-1.

Paterson says Skinner goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s West of Scotland League Conference B clash at Glasgow Perthshire, and they’re going there looking for points.

He said: “We used the free Saturday to play a bounce game between ourselves and the under-20s.

“We signed a boy called Andrew Skinner from Vale of Clyde on the Saturday, so we had to try and get him bedded into the team to have a look at him.

“It has worked out quite well, because he played and scored, and he looks as if he’s going to be a good acquisition to the team.

“We’re now looking forward to the Glasgow Perthshire game, it will be a good game.

“They’ve had a few good results, and ourselves as well, plus it’s a team I’ve not played yet – I haven’t seen much of them either.

“Any chance I’ve had to see them in action we’ve been playing, but I’ve been up there before with East Kilbride Thistle in my first time around.

“It’s a good set-up there, and a nice park, and they’re round about the same level as what we aim to be as well, so I think it will be decent.”
