East Kilbride Thistle must beware 'wounded animal' Glasgow Perthshire, says boss

EK Thistle boss Iain Diack has urged his players to beware “wounded animal” Glasgow Perthshire this weekend.

The Jags, who were idle on Saturday, will face The Shire just days after the West of Scotland Conference C side were thrashed 8-4 by Lanark.

However, Diack expects a reaction from the visitors to The Showpark this weekend.

He said: “It looks like it was just one of those games for them.

“You don’t like to lose eight goals, but they did score four as well. When you score four in any game you expect to go ahead and win it.

“They’ll be disappointed with that for sure, but we want to look after ourselves going into the game.

“We will play the way we want to play the game, and won’t worry too much about the opposition.

“We want to go and impose ourselves on the game. People will look at our results and see we drew with St Anthony’s, and lost a couple of games that were expected, but we know from within we are progressing.

“We want to get results that are fair and reflect our performance and the amount of clear cut chances we are creating. For me, it’s just a matter of time before they start crossing the line and we start to pick up a bit of pace.

“I’m sure everybody associated with Glasgow Perthshire will be absolutely fuming with that result so usually after a result like that you usually get a wounded animal type of reaction.

“I’m sure they will come out all guns blazing and we need to be ready.”

Diack was frustrated to lose out in Thistle’s last game against Drumchapel, but welcomed a free weekend.

“In terms of the performance against Drumchapel we could have done better, but we were carrying a lot of injuries into that game,” he said.

“We had six or seven players out for that game, but the break in the season didn’t come at the worst time for us, if I’m honest.

“We’re not too upset and if we can get two or three back that really changes how we set-up and perform.”
