East Kilbride Thistle's match against St Roch's this weekend has been postponed after the passing of Candy manager Paul Kelly.
St Roch's announced the news on Thursday afternoon ahead of EK's trip in the West of Scotland Football League Conference C. The hosts asked for the match to be called off as a 'mark of respect.'
The league's website has confirmed the match is not going ahead.
A statement read: "It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of St Roch's manager Paul Kelly, who passed away peacefully.
"Paul was respected and loved well beyond the world of football, and we share our deepest condolences and sympathies with his family at this time.
"We have requested to postpone all football activities this weekend as a mark of respect to the Gaffer and his family."
It's a second postponement this week for East Kilbride Thistle, with boss Paterson saying the club worked round the clock to get Saturday’s derby clash with Wishaw played, but torrential rain made it impossible.
He said of the Wishaw match: “All the boys on the board worked round the clock to try and get it all fixed but I think every time they cleared it, it started raining again, and they were fighting a losing battle.
“It was disappointing not to get the game on, but we’re going to end up with a lot of home games at the end of the season.
“It was soft all over the park, and you know yourself that East Kilbride has its own weather, it’s different altogether!
“We managed to get a friendly played during the week against Bonnyton Thistle from the top league, and lost 3-2 so at least we got some time under our belts.”
