EK Thistle captain Matt Gray admits it’s incredibly frustrating not to know when football will return.
The West of Scotland League remains suspended and there is no guarantee the season will be completed this season.
Defender Gray is trying to remain positive but concedes it’s an uncertain time to be a footballer.
He said:”Everybody is desperate to get back to training, get out the house and have some normality back on a Saturday.
“It’s so frustrating. I think everybody is sick of doing runs around the streets on their own because we all want to get back to kicking a ball.
“There is no sign of that happening anytime soon. It would be good to get clarity over what’s happening because we are just waiting every month.
“The benefit of not knowing is that it keeps everyone on their toes and doing bits of fitness. You don’t want to be doing nothing then get caught on your heels.”
As skipper, it’s been a thankless task for Gray to try and gel a relatively new squad over Whatsapp chats.
He said:”Everyone is in the same boat but it’s difficult to keep the camaraderie alive in the squad.
“We’ve only got a group chat and not all the boys are best of mates because they’ve came into the team from different place. I need to try keep everyone talking and it’s difficult to keep everyone together.”
EK boss Iain Diack has assigned squad training programmes but Gray joked he doubted some of his teammates’ 5k times.
He laughed: “There’s a few boys doing 10k’s but I’ve never seen them run a 5k on the pitch – I think there is some dodgy time keeping going on.
"The gaffer has given us plans but it’s especially hard for the guys who are working during the day.
“There’s nowhere for them to go at dark.”
