East Kilbride Thistle boss Steven McClung reckons his players defended “like under-10s” after they were thrashed 6-1 by Shotts.
The Jags suffered their heaviest defeat of the season at Hannah Park on Saturday as former Thistle striker Craig Hastings haunted his old club.
Hastings bagged a brace for the West Region One title hopefuls before Jordan Craig, Paul McGeough, Andy Scott and Jordan Love completed the victory.
Dougie Ryan grabbed Thistle’s consolation and he was the only player who McClung felt worthy of pass marks on a miserable day for the defence.
The Jags boss, whose side enjoyed a 4-2 win over Greenock last week, said: “I didn’t see it coming after last week’s performance.
“It was under-10 defending at times.
“We lost a goal after three minutes. Somebody’s not marked their runner and losing a goal from a set-piece like that is heartbreaking because it’s basic.

“We just never got going and there was a catalogue of errors throughout the game.
“Dougie Ryan, I must admit, was the only shining light and scored a good goal from a free-kick, but it was just a bad day at the office for us.
“No disrespect to the guys, but I think I could have come on and made a difference – and I’ve not played for a long time.
“That just shows you how poor we were.
“It was 6-1 and the worrying thing is it could have been a lot more. I think you’ve got to give a lot of credit to Shotts as well.”
This Saturday Thistle will hope to return to winning ways when they host Maybole in the league. Kick-off at the Showpark is 2pm.
