East Kilbride Thistle boss Iain Diack insists he is unperturbed by West of Scotland League plans to change the setup just weeks ahead of the new campaign.
Earlier this month WOSL chiefs announced they would be splitting the top tier and three conferences below into groups to allow “the best chance of completing the season” under the continuing threat from Covid-19.
The four divisions are now split into eight groups, with two groups battling it out in each league home and away before playing one-off games against each other to determine the final outcome of their division.
It has painted a more complicated picture of how the season will look, with the potential for more games to be added in if time allows.
But Diack, former manager of East of Scotland League side Sauchie, said: “I don’t really care how the league is setup to be honest – as long as we get playing.
”They did this same setup in the East of Scotland last season.
”They had Conference A and B and each team played each other twice, and then Conference A teams played Conference B teams once and that was how they decided the leagues.
”Again, that was probably over complicating things, but I don’t know the reasons behind the West doing this.
”I think you are still playing about the same number of games, so I’m not entirely sure what the idea is for the change, but if they want to do it that’s up to them, and we just need to get on with it.”
