East Kilbride teenager rushed to hospital after being hit by car outside school

An East Kilbride schoolgirl was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car outside Castlefield Primary.

The East Kilbride News reports the 14-year-old was struck by a Skoda on Lickprivick Road, near to Castlefield Primary in Greenhills, at approximately 4.20pm yesterday.

Emergency services raced to the scene, where allegedly the girl was seen lying on the road, before she was taken to Hairmyres Hospital.

Police have today confirmed the teenager is in a stable condition, and her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

PC Lucie Black told the East Kilbride News the driver of the car was released without charge.

She said: "A female youth, aged 14, was involved in a road accident on Lickprivick Road, East Kilbride at around 4.20pm on Tuesday, June 4.

"She was struck by a vehicle near to the school and taken to Hairmyres Hospital for assessment. Her injuries were not life-threatening and no charges were brought against the driver."
