Kyle Wilkie's winner sank defending champions Kelty Hearts - but the East Kilbride star admitted it came in one of his worst displays for the club since joining in the summer.
The midfielder pounced on a rebound from Paul Woods' strike in the second half after his shot came back off the post.
And the strike came as a relief to the 29-year-old, who insisted he was way below par for Kilby in Fife yesterday.
Former Hamilton and Livingston star Wilkie said: "On a personal note, I was feeling a bit off it and then I go and get a goal so that always makes a day like that a bit easier for me to take.
"You know yourself when you are not at it. I didn't think I was, but the goal makes it a bit better because the result for the team is the most important thing.
"It was a great result. It's a hard place to come so it's a fantastic result and the boys really stuck together."

The 1-0 win puts Kilby in the driving seat in the title race after seven games.
They hold a two point lead over nearest challengers BSC Glasgow and sit four points clear of Kelty, having played a game more.
On Wednesday night they head to Dalbeattie Star and Wilkie knows they must follow this up with another strong display in Dalbeattie.
He said: "The Kelty result shows you that we are going to be up there, but we have to take it game by game.
"The league obviously isn't done, there's plenty of time to go so we have to keep pressing on.
"There's a good few teams in there for it, so it will take a good bit of quality to be there at the end.

"We have to keep the confidence high.
"This game is gone now and we can say all we want about beating Kelty, but it's about the next game now."
