East Kilbride Sports Awards winners' gallery

Lee Alexander took home the top prize at the East Kilbride Sports Personality of the Year awards.

The town’s top talent was out in force at the Village Theatre as East Kilbride Sports Council honoured the outstanding athletes from the past year.

Alexander helped the Scotland women’s national team qualify for this summer’s World Cup in France and the Glasgow City goalkeeper helped her side win a 12th league title in a row.

Stewartfield sprinter Greg Kelly was the adult male winner and just missed out on the overall award after a stunning season on the track.

He won gold in the under-20 100m and 200m sprints at the Scottish Age Group Championships, while also helping Scotland to a team bronze at an international in Manchester.

Celtic footballer Maria McAneny was the under-18 female champion after helping their U15s lift the League Cup and representing Scotland.

Whitemoss Amateur Athletics Club star Ross Morgan was the under-18 champion, while club of the year went to South Lanarkshire Trampoline Club, who celebrated a second win when Karen Keeley picked up coach of the year.

Commonwealth Games weightlifter Jodey Hughes took home a special award for representing Team Scotland in Australia last year.

And long-serving table tennis coach Peter Connolly won the services to sport award on a fantastic night for the town.
