East Kilbride's third KFC opens its doors creating 43 jobs in the town

A new KFC restaurant on the site of the former Pizza Hut has brought 43 jobs to EK.

The Kingsgate drive-thru opened on Monday and will be the third KFC in the town, joining the town centre and Queensway stores, and is part of the redevelopment of the site signed-off by council planners earlier this year.

Aileen Smith, area coach at KFC, said: “It’s great to be opening our doors, especially right before Christmas. A festive treat for all.”

All the newly trained team members are excited to be welcoming the local community and cooking some of KFC’s latest menu additions, seven days a week, from 10.30am to 11pm.

And the KFC Foundation donated £1500 to WorkingRite, a charity which helps young people gain valuable work experience.

Dennis Murphy, CEO of WorkingRite, helped with the opening of the new restaurant to receive the cheque.

East Kilbride MSP Linda Fabiani said: “I welcome the opening of the new KFC at Kingsgate – always good to see new jobs coming to our town!”
