East Kilbride primary school show the true meaning of Christmas

Like all schools this year, Christmas at Greenhills Primary School has been a little different.

However, some traditions simply could not be forgotten. So, on December 11, Santa paid a visit to the school playground and toured the grounds along with Rudolph and friends.

Adults and children alike were delighted to see them, with Santa even leaving some gifts for the younger children.

Kindhearted staff at the school have rallied together to ensure children and families are not forgotten this year, buying a huge range of gifts to be distributed by the East Kilbride Kindness Team.

They have also collected a mountain of provisions for local foodbank, Loaves and Fishes. They have also requested that any gifts for staff are replaced with a donation to Loaves and Fishes instead.

Staff and pupils also thought about those less fortunate than themselves (EKN)

Teacher Mrs Tyrrell told the East Kilbride News: “Staff at Greenhills Primary decided to do an ‘alternative secret Santa’ this year choosing these two charities to donate gifts, food and toiletries to.

“The East Kilbride Kindness Team and Loaves and Fishes are working very hard within the local community to help create a Christmas to remember and we were more than happy to be involved.”

Already Loaves and Fishes have received donations from parents for which staff would like to express their gratitude.

Lisa Cameron MP has written to pupils in room 14 to congratulate them on their recent efforts at Harvest time to collect items for the local foodbank asking that her thanks are passed on to everyone involved.
