East Kilbride primary school class self-isolating after members of staff test positive for COVID

A class in an East Kilbride primary school are self-isolating after member of staff tested positive for COVID.

South Lanarkshire Council have confirmed that the P2 class in South Park Primary has been sent home to isolate for 14 days "as a precaution".

They said that a teacher tested positive earlier and is at home.

A council spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the parents of children in P2 have been asked by NHSL Public Health to self-isolate them for 14 days as a precautionary measure as they have been identified as a close contact to an individual who as tested positive for COVID19. 

"Anyone with symptoms is asked to stay off and to take a test.

"All positive cases involving a pupil or adult who works in a school are individually assessed by NHSL Public Health and parents and staff are informed in writing of the outcome in terms of who is required to self-isolate."

The school is the latest to have positive cases confirmed with the town's high schools as well as Strathaven Academy affected and five teachers having previously tested positive for COVID-19 at Greenhills Primary.
