East Kilbride – Murder investigation launched after Louise Aitchison found dead in flat

Police are now treating the death of a 33-year-old woman in East Kilbride as murder.

The body of Louise Aitchison was found in a flat on Park Terrace at around 4.30pm on Thursday, 30 April.

Following a post mortem examination today (Saturday, May 2), police are currently treating the death as murder.

Relatives have been informed and a full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death Louise Aitchison and is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, 4 May.

Detective Inspector Sandy MacKinnon of the Major Investigation Team said: “Our thoughts are with Louise’s family at this incredibly difficult time and we are keeping them fully updated on the progress of our enquiries.

"As we continue to seek answers for them, I urge anyone who may have information which could be relevant to contact us or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1951 of 30 April, or report this anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
