East Kilbride manager appointment "huge priority" after initial interviews

East Kilbride have revealed that appointing a manager “remains of huge priority” after the coronavirus crisis led to a delay in an appointment.

Defender David Proctor has acting as caretaker boss during the Lowland League shut down while the K-Park chiefs search for their top candidate.

Kilby have revealed they held the initial round of interviews in February with the hope of finding a permanent replacement for Stuart Malcolm, who left for Forfar in November last year, by April.

However, the national outbreak has led to a hold up with the likes of Scotland cap Gary Naysmith and ex-Dumbarton boss Stevie Aitken linked with the post.

A club statement read: “The restrictions which have remained in place have prevented us from completing the process in full.

“Such is the importance of ensuring that we make the correct managerial appointment, the club will not deviate from our plan to thoroughly evaluate all candidates in a fair and proper and manner, and will do so as soon as Government and medical advice deems it safe to do so.

“All of our members, supporters and stakeholders should be assured that this appointment remains of huge priority to the club and that we remain dedicated to our high level of ambitions for East Kilbride.”
