East Kilbride make bid to sign ex-Dundee United defender Tam Scobbie

Former Dundee United and St Johnstone defender Tam Scobbie has been in talks to join East Kilbride after featuring as a trailist for the Lowland League champions last week.

The 31-year-old played in central defence during Kilby’s 1-0 defeat to Civil Service Strollers last Tuesday night and had looked set to pen a deal.

The move suffered a setback last week due to Scobbie’s work commitments, but Kilby boss Stuart Malcolm is still hopeful of bringing in the ex-Scotland under-21 international to replace Darren O’Dea, who left the club last month.

Malcolm said: “Tam played as a trialist last Tuesday night and I thought we had a deal done.

“Unfortunately, Tam’s situation with his work has changed dramatically since then and we’ll need to wait and see what happens.

“We are still talking to him and maybe something could happen, but it will all depend on his work (as a delivery driver).”
