East Kilbride kids are the envy of their friends with toy testing job

Two school children beat over 650 young applicants to land their dream job testing top toys for Santa this year.

Emily Cuthbertson and Jason Christie headed to The Entertainer in EK, East Kilbride shopping centre where they tested everything from radio controlled cars and robots to games, cuddly bears and slime.

Having rigorously tested all the toys, the children submitted their reviews to Santa, with Emily choosing ‘Boppi the Llama’ as her top pick.

Meanwhile, Jason said ‘Robo Alive’ was the top of the toys.

To thank them for taking on such a highly pressurised position, each toy tester was awarded a £100 EK, East Kilbride gift card and a fab goodie bag from The Entertainer.

Emily said: “I didn’t know my mum had sent my name in so I was so excited when I heard I was going to be a toy tester for Santa.

“I tested loads of toys but I think my favourites were ‘Boppi the Lama’, ‘Laser Ops’ and ‘Squishmallows’.”

Jason added: “My mum asked me if I wanted her to put my name in and I said ‘yeah’.

“When I heard I had won I ran around the room cheering. It was brilliant fun and my favourite toys were the ‘Robo Alive’ spider and ‘360 RC Extreme’ stunt car.”

Suzanne Heraghty from EK, East Kilbride, said the kids were “fantastic toy testers,” adding that Santa sent a big “heartfelt thank you” for all their hard work.

She added: “He has now given his instructions to the elves who will make sure all the toys are ready for Christmas Day.”

Anyone looking to visit Santa can see him in his winter wonderland grotto in The Hub every weekend and daily from December 19 - 24.

There is no charge to visit Santa but visitors  are encouraged to make a donation to EK charity Loaves and Fishes at the wishing well inside
the grotto.
