East Kilbride in triple signing boost as key men commit to club for next season

East Kilbride have secured the services of three key players after announcing new deals for next season.

Club stalwart Bernard 'BJ' Coll, who returned to K-Park for a second spell in February, has committed to the 2022/23 campaign under new boss Kevin Rutkiewicz.

The left-back is the club's record appearance holder and recently passed 200 appearances for Kilby.

Coll now hopes he can get the club up to the SPFL next season but knows it's only gotten more difficult since he first played for the club in 2015.

He said: "You look at the teams that have gone up, Cove and Kelty have won leagues and Edinburgh City are always up around the play-offs.

"Since I've come back to East Kilbride, the Lowland League has got stronger and it will only continue to get stronger.

"It used to be there was a couple of teams who were really challenging, but now everyone can take points off of each other.

"It's really competitive now."

He will be joined next season by influential midfielder and players' player of the year Neil McLaughlin, who has also signed a new contract alongside the club's top goalscorer and club player of the year Cami Elliott.

It's a big boost to Kilby ahead of next week's Lowland League Cup semi-final clash against Broomhill.

And Coll, who has played under gaffers Billy Ogilvie, Martin Laychlan, Billy Stark, Brian Kerr, Stuart Malcolm, Chris Aitken and now Rutkiewicz, added: "I've enjoyed working with the new manager. He's made small positional changes that you notice and he's really approachable as well.

"I can really see what he wants to do going forward and hopefully we can finish the season with a cup."

East Kilbride are not in action this weekend, with their next outing on May 7 in the cup semi-final.
