East Kilbride hotel ready to welcome guests over the festive period

An East Kilbride hotel is working hard to prepare for the festive period and spread a little cheer– despite the COVID pandemic.

And a survey carried out by staff at Macdonald Crutherland House Hotel found 83 per cent of the 8700 people questioned feel comfortable visiting a hospitality venue.

Crutherland House closed on November 20 in line with government instruction, but has been busy preparing to re-open after tier 4 restrictions were reduced.

While some restrictions remain in place, these are set to be further relaxed further from December 23 to 27.

The current travel ban will also be lifted during this period, giving more people the chance to get away for a short break this Christmas.

During this winter break, hotels in Scotland will be able to accommodate separate groups of up to six people from two different households in a restaurant or bar setting, depending on specific tier regulations the hotel falls into.

Karyn Fraser, general manager of Crutherland House, said: “It is enormously encouraging that people recognise the wide range of steps being taken by us to keep them safe.

“Our hotel operates to the highest standard of health and safety and our staff are focused on doing their usual incredible job of looking after our guests.

“While, unfortunately, we’re expecting fewer guests than normal over the festive season, we have created a fantastic festive offering to bring back some much-needed joy and normality to people’s lives.

“We are already seeing a marked upturn in bookings from people keen to see family and friends in a relaxed, fun environment that will keep them safe.

“We know from our own research that people want to enjoy time away from their homes, whether for a festive day out or an extended overnight stay.”

All bookings allow at least one free change in date, even on non-refundable packages.

In many cases bookings are completely flexible, letting guests amend or cancel their trip in advance of their stay, or are actively rescheduled with customers when hotels have had to close hotels due to government instructions.
