East Kilbride have 'very exciting' signings ready to be announced, says boss Mick Kennedy

Mick Kennedy has revealed he already has some "very exciting" signings secured for East Kilbride and hopes to announce them in the coming weeks.

The new Kilby boss won't officially take the reins at K-Park until the end of the season, but he has been hard at work with assistant boss Si Ferry to land fresh faces for next season's crack at the Lowland League title and promotion to the SPFL.

Kennedy was given plenty of food for thought on Saturday as he watched the current squad, still under the stewardship of interim boss Martin Fellowes, run out 9-0 winners at Gretna in the Lowland League Cup, and he said they will be given their chance as well.

He told Lanarkshire Live Sport : "We are analysing the group that is there at the moment and we will give everybody at the club an opportunity to prove themselves.

"But I don't think there is any hiding away from the fact we will be bringing our own players in.

"There are conversations happening with loads of players on a daily basis just now.

"We've got some things over the line so hopefully over the next few weeks, we can start to announce them.

"I'm sure some of them will be very exciting for the club and the town - and for myself and Simon to work with.

"There are already deals in place for players which will be announced when the season ends.

"It is full on, 24/7 at the moment, but that will eventually settle down."

Kennedy says he will adopt a different approach next term and says the club will rely less on older, more experienced players as they have done in recent seasons.

He added: "In terms of a football philosophy it will be very different to this season and also in terms of how we recruit.

"I think we will have a younger base of players among the group, which will be integral to how we want to play so that is a totally different approach in that sense.

"It is important we have a squad with real legs and energy in it. I have always been really cautious about who we bring down and like to bring in people in their prime.

"I've probably got a different philosophy to what has been at the club in the past few years in terms of the culture and environment that I create.

"It will take a bit of time for that to bed in but, ultimately, I think we can bring success to the club.

"I think any manager going into this situation should believe that."
