With Covid restrictions beginning to ease, it is not only the young footballers who have been arriving back at K-Park to take advantage of the recent fine spring weather.
East Kilbride Gymnastics Club have teamed up with the East Kilbride Community Trust at K-Park and have been using the pitches to get their young members back into action.
Ian Aitchison, facilities manager at K-Park, was delighted to welcome the gymnasts.
He said: “With indoor facilities still mainly ruled out due to Covid, it has been wonderful to see the local gymnastics club able to enjoy the facilities that we have.
“Whilst our pitches here are predominantly used for football, we have been very happy to help adapt a little bit to accommodate the gymnastics club.
“It has been brilliant to see the youngsters and their coaches working hard and having so much fun together.”
That was a sentiment echoed by gymnastics coach Kellyanne Farwell, who said: “It has been fantastic for the gymnasts to actually get together as a group and do some limited training.
“The social aspect of training together is great for their mental wellbeing as well as their physical health. They have loved every minute of it.
“We are very grateful for all the help and support that everyone at the East Kilbride Community Trust have given us.
“The facilities at K-Park are fantastic, the staff are supportive and just what we need right now until we can get back into the gym.”
